What is Power Dribbling? Ball Handling Drills

February 13, 2013 By CoachMyKid Leave a Comment

Power dribbling is a technique used to help ball handling skills.

In power dribbling you dribble with more force than normal pushing the ball to the ground with extra force.

A basic power dribble is when you dribble the ball at a very intense rate. Maintain your normal form and posture. Use your muscles to thrust the ball forcefully down, and then expect the ball to quickly bounce back to your hand.

The drills described below will help you gain confidence and agility to handle a basketball in a power dribble. This will help you run a fast break, cut through the defensive, and outmaneuver your opponents.

Use the power dribble with some of your other dribbling drills.

Here are 8 Basketball Drills that you can use with the power dribble:

  1. Power Crossovers
  2. Dribble Blindfolded
  3. 10-5 Repeats
  4. Dribble Between Legs While Walking
  5. Double Ball Power Dribbling
  6. Power Dribbling with Sprints
  7. 3 Chair Dribbling
  8. Dirt Dribbling
