These are fun football blocking drillsa that I’ve used repeatedly over the years. We used to call it the Board drill because we would put down a 4 foot long 2 X 4 piece of lumber and have players straddle it.
The sole purpose was to move the opposite lineman off of the board while maintaining the straddle of the board, to protect territory and to move the opposing player out of it. Of course low position and technique of leg drive and use of arms was the winning secret.
Today I simply have the kids line up on painted yard line markers and position two blocking dummies two yards apart on each side of line to create a lane. Kids are taught to stay low, fire off and using arms to push other player aside, and drive through while maintaining a position on line and between dummies.
This football drill is great for isolating poor blocking techniques. I’ve  had the best result when winner goes to winner line and we continue until we declare the best football blocker.
