I have many good defensive football drills for kids who are just learning how to tackle to get them to explode through the tackle without thinking about it.  This one is called the Shuffle-Carioca-Explode drill.
The problem I have had in the past is some kids – especially the ones that are just learning or are a little timid – sometimes tend to spend too much time thinking about hitting and the right way to tackle, etc.  This football tackling drill doesn’t give them the time to think about hitting the dummy, plus the explosion through the hitting zone gets taught as well.
Set up 3 cones about 5 yds apart each.  At the end of the 3 cones, about another 5 yds place a tackling dummy.  Idea is to have the kids shuffle between the first 2 cones, then carioca between cones 2-3, then turn and sprint after the 3rd cone all the way through the tackling dummy.
The concept behind the  football drill is to get the kids to learn how to explode and run through the tackle as they learn how to tackle. (The key to this is the kids don’t spend time thinking about how they are going to tackle, they just turn and do it because they are worrying about shuffling, then carioca.)
